Here are a few of my handmade items for sale. Headbands and tutu’s make lovely accessories and photography props for every little princess. These make adorable baby shower and birthday gifts, too. If you are interested in a custom piece made in a different color and/or size I would welcome the opportunity to work with you.
I don’t have prices on any of these yet because I’m just beginning to make them. If you are interested in being a product tester or using these as photography props please contact me via Earth Angel’s facebook page, and become a friend while you’re there. Thanks for looking!

It’s all coming together…

I am having so much fun combining many of my passions. I’m mommy to two beautiful babies! When I can steal away a few minutes of free time here and there my creative juices are flowing. I have spent lots of time this week studying many of the Etsy designers. I call them designers because they are individuals making wonderfully creative handmade items. I hope it’s legal to try to recreate some of their creations because I can’t wait to try some out.

I love buying handmade items such as those found on Etsy for many reasons. I would rather give my money to the person I know spent time creating the object of my desire rather than paying a big box store that mass produces items, wastes tons of energy and contributes to the environmental problems. Some might debate that it’s better to spend money at the big box stores especially during these hard economic times. My retort would be that most of the items Americans purchase are made outside of the US. Why not build the economy by giving the money to those who are earning it right here in the United States? That’s not to say that all of the designers are from the US. I love seeing the fresh perspectives coming straight from individuals around the world.

I am just getting started, but I feel great about what’s ahead. I love designing and dreaming up new creations. I found a local designer that recycles her fabric scraps rather than throwing it in landfills. The match could not be more perfect since she is beginning to use more organic fabrics! I have a beautiful stock of fabric to begin my handmade creations. Once my supplies arrive next week I will share with you a few of the things I’ve been working on.

I want to give a special thanks to the wonderful patterns from Etsy’s own Snazziedrawers to Joy’s creative inspiration at distinctdesign.blogspot.com, and to the local designer, Janay at Janay-A.com for showering me with oodles of enjoyable fabrics.

Life has been busy lately! I can only pull so many late nights with my two little ones around to keep me busy. As I type, I sit Indian style in my computer chair rocking side to side with Ashlynn Rose nestled fast asleep in my lap. This week's free time has been spent practicing my flower techniques, ordering supplies to begin making sellable items, and creating an inspirational place to work.

I will try to post pictures soon....

Where is Earth Angel in “the process” now?

After many long, cold winter month’s spring finally arrived, and with it brought my little pink bundle of joy, Ashlynn. Any of you girly girls out there with a daughter or grand-daughter know all about what I’m going to say next. You can’t have a beautiful baby girl and NOT dress her up! Girls NEED things like bows, dresses, sparkle and SAS! Hence my addiction to www.etsy.com. Specifically, I was like a bee drawn to honey when it came to www.etsy.com/shop/Snazziedrawers . I became obsessed with the beautiful bows, clothes, and bibs!!! To my dismay, Snazziedrawers only sells patterns, but I wanted the exquisite bows and headbands for Miss Ashlynn.

After a week of longingly gazing at the products I couldn’t BUY I finally decided to TRY. I bought the simplest pattern… The Juliette La Fleur. Yes, that’s right, the patterns are named as beautifully as they look. Joy, the creator of Snazziedrawers, has developed a thorough pattern that even non-sewers like me can follow. I had such fun following the pattern that I have been making at least one flower every night since. We shall see where this takes me... I’m hoping to sell my handmade creations. Of course, being a perfectionist I want to practice until I get the technique just right. Check out Joy’s exquisite masterpieces at www.etsy.com/shop/Snazziedrawers to see the items I hope to make, and the work I have to live up to. Anyhow, I think I did pretty well. This is my first flower made from leftover fabric from my wedding. What do you think? I can’t wait to hear your comments!

What does this all mean?

This means that Earth Angel is alive and growing! Now, I hope I haven’t lost you with the growing plant metaphor, but it was the best way to describe this process. I will try to explain…

The seed I refer to was the beginning of an idea. Last fall I began brainstorming ideas about opening a business. My only problem… what kind of business? Like I said before, I have many different pulls (or interests). Having started the family I’ve always wanted, I found myself wanting more. Along my journey, I discovered that in order to be the Mama I want to be I have to dream and set goals for myself. Maybe it’s because of them that I have developed another obsession- Recycle-Reduce-Reuse. It makes me feel good! That same feeling you get when you leave church on Sunday morning is the same feeling I get when I see three full recycling bins at the end of my driveway alongside one lonely trash bag. Hehe…

I started researching methods of recycling, which took me in many different directions. Did you know that there is a right and wrong way to recycle? There are also many items that recycling companies do NOT accept based on where you live. Anyhow, I had fun learning about recycling, but I really got excited when I started researching ALL of the different consumer products that are being developed using recycled materials! It is amazing what you can find now from gorgeous glassware to energy efficient insulation for your home. The possibilities are endless!

So, I thought how can I combine my love for recycling with a decade of retail management experience? I had always dreamed of opening my own store. Thus, planting the seed.
